Background
Dave Duncan began the dream of Nature's Hammock in 1994. It is a result of his life's experiences and his belief in the ability to make a change for the better.

Born in the Central Valley of California, Dave grew up surrounded by wildlife, helping his dad, who was a range scientist, study various animals and their relationships with one another.

He participated in the Third International Conference on the Great Apes of the World, which took place in Malaysia, summer of 1998. His awareness of the plight of apes worldwide grew into a commitment to help them any way possible.

Dave has been teaching biology for 10 years in Fresno at San Joaquin Memorial High School. He has great hope for the future, and often reminds his students of the effect they can have on the world around them.

A strong believer in the power of one, David has combined his knowledge and passion for the natural world to create Nature's Hammock, a bold new company, providing hammocks for primates in captivity, as well as progressive, creative products to benefit endangered wildlife. Some recipients of our hammocks include Koko, the world-renowned sign language using gorilla, as well as young orphaned orangutans in rehabilitation in Indonesia.

David hopes to continue developing creative ways to approach global problems and encourages others to use their talents to improve the world around them. Nature's Hammock routinely contributes to environmental causes, and we'd love your support.
